Community Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We have a range of subject matter experts and technical specialists including Fire Safety Officers, Risk Engineers, Building Surveyors and Community Education Officers who provide expert advice and education campaigns across the community.

The People and Culture Directorate takes a lead role in strategy development and implementation to enable Fire Rescue Victoria to have a safe workplace, a respectful and achievement oriented culture, and an agile and engaged workforce. The key functions of the directorate are Human Resources Services, Workplace Relations and Ethical Standards, Organisational Development and Business Partnering, and Media and Communications.

The Corporate Services Directorate provides advice, planning and support in the areas of Finance, Information Technology, Fleet, Property and Records Management. In addition, the directorate also provides oversight of the FRV Commercial arm, Fire and Equipment Services (FES). The directorate is a key enabler for the operational and corporate units of the business to deliver on organisational objectives.

The Strategic Services Directorate comprises Governance and Compliance, Corporate Strategy, Performance and Project Management Office, Business Assurance and Procurement. The main function of the directorate is to provide high level, strategic advice and support in relation to strategy, project management, governance, risk management, audit, compliance, committee secretariat matters and support across the full contract management and procurement life cycle.

Health and Wellbeing comprises of a team of health professionals which include Injury, Prevention and Rehabilitation specialists, Exercise Physiologists, Clinical Trainers, Health Officers, Chaplains, Psychological Business Partners and Safety Advisors who provide a comprehensive range of programs to support the mental and physical wellbeing of our people.

FRV Training Academy is a state-of-the-art emergency services training centre located at Craigieburn that combines academic and practical learning facilities. A team of Training Developers, Learning Support Coordinators and Electronic Publishers support the development and delivery of high-quality training to all FRV firefighters to ensure they perform their roles safely and efficiently.

Protective Equipment manage FRV’s Breathing Apparatus and Emergency Medical Response Oxygen Kits on appliances and at district stations, as well as maintenance of the installed breathing air systems on aerial appliances used by firefighters in hostile environments. In addition to servicing and maintaining Fully Encapsulated Gas Suits, Personal B.A. Masks, and Thermal Imaging Cameras.

Shortlisting

A selection panel will review and assess each application received against the essential requirements of the position to determine the candidates that will progress to the interview stage of the selection process.

Interview

You will be asked a series of questions that focus on the requirements of the position. These questions will ask you provide a specific example to draw upon your past experience. Examples can come from all sorts of situations including previous jobs, experience gained outside of work or from formal study.

You are encouraged to respond using the STAR method:

As part of our pre-employment checks process, you will be asked to provide details of two referees (one should be your current or most recent manager) who can be contacted to discuss your skills and experience in more depth.

FRV employees must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted working rights for ongoing roles.

All appointments at FRV are subject to a criminal records and working rights check to determine your suitability for the position.

We are also committed to providing and maintaining a safe working environment without risk to the health of our employees, therefore it is a requirement that all FRV employees comply with being fully vaccinated (boosted) against COVID-19 to undertake duties at FRV worksites or undertake work for FRV outside of their place of residence.
