Firefighters battle suspicious Mt Waverley blaze

FRV crews have spent the early morning hours battling a fire at an abandoned building in Mt Waverley.

Firefighters were called to the weatherboard home in Lawrence Road just after midnight following multiple Triple Zero (000) calls. They arrived on scene within six minutes.

Crews worked quickly to gain the upper hand of the blaze, getting it under control within 20 minutes of arriving on scene.

Victoria Police and Ambulance Victoria also attended.

The fire has caused severe damage to the home and a building surveyor will attend to make an assessment.

The incident is being treated as suspicious and has been referred to Victoria Police for investigation.
